Operation Homefront holds chili cook-off to support the troops
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Local residents raised money Saturday to help service members.
On Saturday morning, Operation Homefront held their annual chili cook off at the Harley Davidson in Onalaska with proceeds benefiting their efforts to service troops and their families.
The organization sends care packages to soldiers overseas, and help the families of troops who may be struggling.
Twenty individuals from around the community signed up to cook for the event and be voted best chili.
Organizers say events like these are important to show our troops support.
“They go through a lot. They sacrifice a lot so that we have our freedoms, and it’s really important for us to support them in that endeavor and to let them know that we’re here for them and when they deploy overseas. We’re also gonna be here for their families,” said Operation Homefront advisory board member Patti Lokken.
This was the 14th year Operation Homefront has held the chili cook off.
