Operation Homefront Chili Cook-off raises money for soldiers, families

Visitors got to taste-test 20 different chilies from 3 different categories

Chili was the name of the game for Operation Homefront Saturday.

Along with Onalaska’s Harley Davidson, the 10th annual Chili Cook-off raised money for local soldiers and their families. For $10, visitors got to taste-test 20 different chilies from 3 different categories: professional cookers, home cookers, and past winners

The event is also a means to maintain a support system for deployed soldiers and their families.

“It’s been a long time since 9/11 has happened and people get back into their life and their worlds, but we still do have troops deployed, we still have families struggling with having a family member gone and over seas, so we want to make sure people remember them and remember that that is still going on today,” said Operation Homefront Advisory Board Patti Lokken.

The event also included a raffle and a bake sale to help raise funds.
