“Operation Christmas Child” spreads holiday cheer worldwide
Donations needed this week
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)– The pandemic may keep us away from loved ones this holiday season, but it doesn’t have to stop us keeping up traditions.
Operation Christmas Child has been collecting shoe boxes, filled with gifts, for more than 20 years.
Volunteers are back at this week collecting donations in La Crosse at the First Presbyterian Church’s Coach House.
The boxes will be shipped, along with a gospel message, to kids in 160 countries and territories around the world. The gifts will arrive just in time for the holidays. Drop off coordinator Cindi Kyte says having the opportunity to safely give during the pandemic is good for the soul. “To be able to fill a shoe box and send that off, and send that off to a child in a safe way we know is really going to help and I think that is more meaningful than anything.”
First Presbyterian Church is taking curb-side donations through Monday morning.
