One person injured after Onalaska apartment fire Saturday night

Investigation begins after late night apartment fire in Onalaska Saturday

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – Emergency responders took one person to the hospital after an Onalaska apartment building caught on fire late Saturday night. The City of Onalaska Fire Department responded to a fire shortly after 11 p.m in a 16-unit apartment complex on Pinecrest Lane with reports of smoke coming from one of the apartments.

Fire crews reported heavy smoke conditions and several residents still inside the building. Crews evacuated all of the residents and contained the fire to the original apartment. One resident was taken to the hospital with injuries from the fire. The building suffered moderate smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A total of 17 personnel responded to the incident. The La Crosse Fire Department, Onalaska Police department, State Patrol, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance assisted at the fire.
