One man in custody after car chase in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- The La Crosse Police Department has one man in custody after a chase through the southside of La Crosse.
Police say it started when an off-duty officer noticed a man with a warrant in the area of the southside Walmart.
On-duty officers were called-in and found the suspect’s car.
Because he has a history of running from police, officers put spike strips under the tires.
The suspect did try to get away and ran over the strips, causing all four tires to go flat.
He then led police on a chase until he stopped in the area of 16th and Farnam Streets.
That’s when police say he locked himself in his car and started acting erratically.
Officers fired a bean-bag round through the back window.
The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
No one was injured.
Police are still investigating and are expected to release more information, including charges, Wednesday.
