One last member of Oktoberfest royalty is crowned at Oktoberfest Race Week
WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — The 49 th annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend finished up Sunday afternoon at the La Crosse Speedway in West Salem.
The four-day event ended with racers competing to decide who would be crowned the 2018 Oktoberfest 200 champion. Ty Majeski passed Johnny Sauter with 30 laps to go in that race to become the champion.
Fans could also meet their favorite racers during the annual Oktoberfest On-Track Autograph Session.
Chuck Deery, the La Crosse Speedway’s track operator, said more than 400 cars race during the event, which brings in people from all over the area.
“Any event like this that has tourist dollars come in here is a huge economic boom — not just for the city of West Salem, but anyone on the major corridors leading to West Salem. It’s great.”
