One dead, one severely injured following high-speed motorcycle pursuit

Police use ‘flash bangs’ in attempt to capture domestic violence suspect in Holmen

HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) – One person is dead and another is severely injured following a high-speed chase in Holmen Sunday night.

A Holmen Police Officer attempted to stop a motorcycle that had no functioning taillight or license plate at 11:20 p.m. on May 31. According to the news release, when the officer activated his emergency lights, the driver of the motorcycle looked back, then sped off onto Sandlake Road. There also was a passenger on the motorcycle.

Due to the motorcycle’s high rate of speed, the officer ended his pursuit as the subject turned on to East Avenue and continued into the City of Onalaska.

Shortly after the officer ended his pursuit, a traffic crash was reported on East Avenue and Riders Club Road. The crash involved the suspect motorcycle and a pickup truck.

Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were ejected. The passenger was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver also was taken to a hospital, but later died.

No other information was made available by law enforcement.

The incident is still under investigation.
