Onalaska Students Work to Lower Carbon Footprint

Students in Onalaska Middle School began their efforts to stay eco-friendly Friday morning, with a goal to replace their plastic cutlery to metal silverware.

According to the Onalaska High School’s Green Council, replacing plastic with metal could save up to 1,200 pounds of waste.

The Green Council presented several eco-conscious ideas to the Middle Schoolers, with hopes to recruit, and inspire the younger generation.

” We’re not dead yet and the only way that we can prevent this horrible future that scientists are projecting is actually take action and work to change that future… so first we need to believe we can actually change that future, ” said Green Council member Yining Zhou.

The middle schoolers signed and sent in a request to replace the silverware to their principal, and wait for any response.
