Onalaska, Sparta to get new internet option
MADISON (WKBT) — Onalaska and Sparta will have a new internet option soon, according to plans announced Monday by a Madison-based telecommunications company.
TDS Telecommunications will build fiber networks in both Onalaska and Sparta to deliver 2Gig internet, TV, and phone services to homes and a full suite of service options for businesses.
“Fiber networks are in demand because they offer the connection speeds and reliability consumers are looking for,” said Andrew Petersen, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs at TDS. “We’re excited to bring this technology to Onalaska and Sparta and be part the future of these growing communities.”
Construction is expected to start in the spring and connect 12,000 addresses to the network.
“We are pleased TDS will be offering all the residents of Onalaska an option for a fully fiber network to their homes, and look forward to the full fiber buildout being complete,” said Eric Rindfleisch, Onalaska City Administrator. “Options such as this will keep Onalaska as the premier regional location to live and work and maintain our high standard of living.”
