Onalaska mayoral candidates look to election day
Election coming on Tuesday
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – The Onalaska Mayor’s seat is on the ballot next Tuesday.
Incumbent Kim Smith is facing Terry Bauer in the election.
Smith has served as the city’s interim Mayor since December of 2019.
Her term came after former Mayor Joe Chilsen stepped down because of health reasons.
She says a strength of Onalaska is its work with other communities.
“These are strengths that we can continue to build on. And of course there will be room to improve and we look forward to evaluating those when the crisis is over,” said incumbent Onalaska Mayor Kim Smith.
Local businessman Terry Bauer is challenging Smith.
Bauer is also a co-founder of Moon Tunes.
He weighed in about what he feels can be improved in Onalaska.
“Filling of the empty store fronts, and working with developers who want to invest in our community with additional housing and business,” Onalaska mayor candidate Terry Bauer.
Polling locations in Onalaska are still at the Omni Center for district one and the National Guard Armory for Districts two and three.
