Onalaska, Holmen to hold Community Thanksgiving Dinner together
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Two area communities are joining forces this year to provide a Thanksgiving feast. The Onalaska and Holmen Community Thanksgiving Dinner will offer all the traditional fixings, including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries and pies for dessert.
The event is now in its ninth year and runs entirely on volunteers and donations. And it has grown considerably from its first year.
“We started 8 years ago and they expected 300 people and 750 showed up,” said Gary Luecke, a volunteer with the meal.
Last year, they served about 1,300 meals.
The community dinner is set for Thanksgiving Day at the Onalaska Armory. Dinner will be served from 11 to 2.
