Onalaska hockey advances past Eau Claire Memorial

Onalaska won a goal-heavy WIAA regional contest against Eau Claire Memorial 5-4 Thursday night at a packed Omni Center.

The first period alone featured six goals, with the Hilltoppers holding a 4-2 lead.

Colin Comeau put the game away with a third period backhand goal which made the score 5-3 Onalaska. Eau Claire scored once more before the final horn, but Onalaska hung on.

Onalaska will face No. 1 seed Hudson on the road next Tuesday.

In other regional action, Black River Falls lost 6-0 to Somerset and West Salem/Bangor fell 7-2 to Menomonie.
