Onalaska Fire Department holds annual Firehouse 5K
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Despite the bad weather, many in our area took time to raise money for a good cause. On Saturday morning, the Onalaska Fire Department hosted their 8th annual Firehouse 5K run/walk.
Money raised at the event goes to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to help local children who are sick, injured, and have disabilities.
On top of raising money, they hope to also promote a healthy lifestyle.
Organizers said they host this event in rain, shine, or in this case, snow.
“This isn’t an ideal weather situation but we still had a really good turnout. We are over 200 runners again so the runners came and didn’t let the weather stop them today,” said Onalaska Firefighter Cory Taylor.
The Onalaska Fire Department has raised about $24,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network so far.
