Onalaska church holds ‘free rummage sale’

It’s rummage sale season, and one sale in our area gave things away for free. Hundreds of people showed up to Christ is Lord Free Lutheran Church in Onalaska Saturday afternoon to take part in a ‘free rummage sale’.

Participants received free hot dogs, chips and ice cream bars. They could fill a bag full of free supplies you would find at a garage sale or food pantry.

All of those items were donated by community members.

The free rummage sale is an example of what the church is calling a Grace Outreach Event.

“It’s called the Grace Event because, as believers, God’s grace is free. So, we wanted everyone to experience that, and we thought, ‘What better way than to just give a bunch of stuff away for free?'” said Tracy Trussoni, an administrator for the Grace Outreach Event.

There was also face painting and games for kids.

This was the fist year of Grace Outreach, and the church says they plan on having similar events in the future.
