Karen E. Miller, 60 of Holmen passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Benedictine Manor, La Crosse. She was born in Madison on November 26, 1962 to James and Mary (Deichelbohrer) Miller.
Karen graduated from Holmen High School in 1981. She continued her education and graduated from UW-L and later obtained a Master Degree in special education. She taught in New Mexico on an Indian reservation for 9 years and in Wyoming for 5 years. She returned to Wisconsin in 2004, teaching at several schools before her retirement.
Karen had several different health conditions that she fought for several years before losing her battle with them. She had a great love for dogs and enjoyed them immensely. She married Arlin Severson in 2008 and lived her last 15 years in La Crosse and Holmen.
Karen is survived by her husband, Arlin; step children, Lucas (Laramie) Severson and Hayley Severson; step granddaughter, Violet Severson; brothers, Stephen Miller and Scott (Shelly) Miller; her sister, Ann (Zach) Elliott; nieces and nephews, Kylee (Haakon) Simonson, Evan Miller, Tyler (Briana) Elliott, and Chelsea Elliott; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Wendell Pfaff.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
