Judith L. “Judy” Johnson, age 78, of De Soto, WI, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at Bethel Oaks in Viroqua. She was born in La Crosse, WI, on October 7, 1944 the daughter of Adolf and Mary (Ghelf) Lee. In June 1962, Judy married Daniel Trussoni and they later divorced. On November 11, 1967, she married Gordon “Gordy” Johnson. Judy was a determined woman who had a passion for helping make things better for others. She was an active volunteer for political causes she believed in, and although she was not an attorney, Judy spent years advocating for people to get disability or social security benefits. When she set her mind to something, there was no stopping her from seeing things through her way. As the song says, she did it her way, and Judy was particular about things because she cared. When not working, Judy enjoyed a good cup of coffee and loved to play cards and other games.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gordy; four children: Tom Johnson, Troy (Angie Baumann) Johnson, Phil (Cynthia) Trussoni, and Rita (Jeffrey) Tock; five grandchildren: Andrew (Keanna), Austin, Issac and Lane Johnson, and Christopher Trussoni; two-great-grandchildren: Gracie and Isabelle; her siblings: Betty Flamme and Don (Deb) Lee; numerous nieces, nephews, and one special grandniece, Andrea Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her siblings: Gerry (Cecil) Ames, Duane (Mary) Lee, and Danny (Pam) Lee; and a brother-in-law, Vern Flamme.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Thorson-Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua with Lori Kleppe officiating. Burial will be in the De Soto Lutheran Cemetery in De Soto. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Thorson-Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua is entrusted with her services.
