Number of children with COVID-19 increasing in Wisconsin, nationally

Like adults, experts say it's important for kids to wear masks and get vaccinated to help stop the spread of the virus.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A concerning trend is happening with COVID cases and the new Omicron variant.

The number of Wisconsin kids infected is increasing.

For much of the pandemic kids under 18 made up the fewest number of cases.

That’s changing.

Hospitalizations among kids are also climbing nationwide.

“One of the really important questions from all of this is ‘will our capacity be stretched beyond what our capacity is,” said Gundersen Health System vaccine expert Dr. Raj Naik.
