Not guilty plea for man who taunted La Crosse Police on stolen camera
LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — A not guilty plea is entered for a La Crosse man who videotaped himself taunting police on a camcorder he allegedly stole.
20-year-old Houaka Yang was arrested in May for allegedly stealing items from unlocked cars. Surveillance video allegedly shows then stealing a camcorder from one car.
In one of 20 videos on the camcorder, Yang says,”This is my house, yes, and a stolen camera that I stole, but it’s ok the cops won’t figure it out. To introduce you my name is Houaka Yang so yeah, how do you do? ….this is me, Hi.”
Yang stood mute during a brief hearing Tuesday in La Crosse County Court, and a judge entered a not guilty plea for him.
Yang faces seven misdemeanor theft charges. He is scheduled to appear in court again in October.
