Northside La Crosse residents on edge following latest shooting
Report of shots fired over weekend has residents concerned for safety
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Another report of shots fired in La Crosse, this time on the city’s north side, has residents in the neighborhood on edge.
The shooting happened Sunday afternoon near the 1600 block of Avon Street.
Neighbors say they heard multiple shots before calling police.
“I got up and looked out the window, (and) saw a younger guy run across the street, gun in hand,” said resident Hunter Voss.
Police did enter a house looking for a suspect, but quickly cleared the scene.
Another person who lives in the neighborhood says the shooting was a wake up call.
“Seriously, (if) they’re going to start shooting, me and my wife both say we’re going to get a gun, too,” said Dan Lemke. “We sit outside every night, usually every weekend, she’s afraid to go sit outside now.”
No one was injured in Sunday’s shooting.
