LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – A warm place to sleep should never be taken for granted.
One area non-profit wants every kid in the city to have their own bed to sleep in at night.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a local charity that builds beds for kids who don’t have their own.
Volunteers came together to build 25 beds by hand at the La Crosse Archery in Onalaska Saturday.
Charity leaders say every child, no matter who, deserves a good night’s sleep.
“Many of these kids are sleeping with parents, sleeping with siblings, sleeping on the floor, sleeping on the couch, and we just don’t think that’s right. For their development, for their happiness. They deserve a bed,” said Mike Suchla, the Chapter President for Sleep In Heavenly Peace.
The motto for the organization: No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.
