No one injured in Sparta area house fire
SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — No one was injured Tuesday during a housefire at 4097 Hwy. 27 in Sparta that started in the basement, according to the Sparta Area Fire District.
The Sparta Area Fire District was dispatched to the fire at about 4:20 p.m. When Chief Mike Arnold arrived, there was heavy smoke visible from the house. The fire started in the basement and burned up through the floor on the first story.
The home has extensive fire damage, but no one was injured.
According to Arnold, everything was fine when the homeowner left at 1:30 p.m.; however, when the homeowner’s daughter got home from school at 4:10 p.m. the home was filled with smoke. She called her father, who reported the fire.
The daughter was able to get two dogs out of the home.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire department was on scene for four hours.
Fire fighters were assisted at the scene by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Sparta Ambulance Service, Cataract 1st Responders, Jackson Electric Cooperative and the Monroe County 911 Center.
