No. 8 Eagles fall short of upset vs. No. 4 Pioneers

No. 8 UW-La Crosse men’s basketball fell short of a major upset of No. 4 UW-Platteville Wednesday night, losing 73-67 at Mitchell Hall.

The Eagles trailed in the first half by as much as eight before ripping off a 15-5 run to take the lead. Platteville and La Crosse would go into the locker rooms tied at 32.

Both teams went back and forth throughout most of the second half, but the Pioneers cashed in at the free throw line and took advantage of several Eagle turnovers to hold their lead.

Ethan Anderson led the Eagles with 23 points. The Eagles are now 7-1 overall and 0-1 in WIAC play.
