No. 11 Eagles prep for top-ranked North Central Cardinals in 2nd round of playoffs
UW-La Crosse Football has the hardest matchup in the Division III playoffs this weekend: visiting number one-ranked and defending champion North Central College out of Naperville, Illinois.
North Central is a juggernaut statistically. They average almost 60 points a game, over 300 rushing yards a game, and their defense allows just 10 points a game. They feature a running game similar to what the Eagles showcase, so while the UWL defense gets its biggest test of the season, the Eagle offense will likely have to keep pace on the scoreboard.
The Eagles are coming off a playoff win with over 500 yards of total offense, so veteran lineman like Cole Greco believe this team can pull off the upset.
“We think we have a true shot at the national championship,” Greco said. “We think we’re a national championship-caliber team, and we’re really going to get a test this week.”
The Eagles and Cardinals kick off Saturday at noon central.
