Nine drunk driving arrests over four day span in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Police arrested nine people for charges of operating while intoxicated in less than a week in La Crosse.
The four-day period of arrests was from Thursday through Sunday.
Among those arrested, a 15-year old as well as someone with three OWI’s that was twice the legal limit of .08 BAC.
Police say if you choose to drink this holiday season or any time, there are options to get home safely.
“When you’re talking about all the cab services, the La Crosse Tavern League SafeRide program that’s available free of charge to anybody that may have been served too much. And then certainly our Uber and Lyft platforms, there’s really no excuse to have nine OWI arrests in a four-day period,” said Seargant Tom Walsh.
It wasn’t just La Crosse that saw an increase last weekend.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Department in southeast Wisconsin says they made six arrests over a five-hour span last Friday evening.
