GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers' time in a Packers jersey appears to be up after nearly 20 years.
MADISON, Wis. -- Packers quarterback and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers left his apparent successor Jordan Love with nothing but praise as he made his intentions known Wednesday to play for the Jets.
"[The Packers] are ready to move on with Jordan," he told Pat McAfee in a more-than hour-long appearance on the show Wednesday, breaking a weeks-long silence as rumors spread.
"He's gonna be a great player, he's a f---ing great kid...he's got a bright future in front of him."
While still under contract with the Packers as negotiations continue, Rodgers made the announcement Wednesday that his intent was to move forward with the New York Jets.
The decision came after his darkness retreat in February, where he said he went into thinking he would retire -- and came out believing something had "shifted" in the Packers organization. He heard from multiple people he trusted in the league, he said, that "there was some shopping going on, [the Packers] were interested in actually moving me.'"
He still wanted to play, he decided. The Jets came shopping, and he's ready to accept.
"It is what it is. The Packers would like to move on. They’ve let me know that in so many words, they’ve let other people know that in direct words.”

What's left, however, is negotiations between the Packers and Jets over the details of the move. Packers leadership have already said they would honor a trade request to the Jets if Rodgers asked; they've been silent since then on where negotiations are at.
"No one has bled green and gold like me," Rodgers said. "I love that city, I love those fans, I love that region."
