Viterbo University students spend night outdoors to learn the struggles of the homeless

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - As the winter cold continues, not everyone is lucky enough to have a warm place to stay. And some Viterbo students are learning their struggles first-hand.

The Homelessness class at Viterbo spent Thursday night outdoors. It's part of the Servant Leadership program's annual "A Night in the Cold" homelessness vigil.

Over 12 hours, students will better understand what the less fortunate have to go through.

"And we're just getting a glimpse of it, cause we can go inside and use the bathroom or go inside and get warm. Just to kind of feel what they're going through every single day,” said Homelessness class student Sarah Andelin.

The Viterbo Homelessness class will be out until 5:00 a.m. Friday morning.
