Small horses helped raise buck bucks for Ronald McDonald House

WINONA, Min. (WKBT) - A benefit show organized by the Minnesota Chapter of the Pony of the Americas Club was held at the Minnesota Equestrian Center in Winona.

Between donations from corporations and individuals as well as all proceeds from the show going to the cause, fundraising efforts collected $50,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester. That was enough money to have a room at the house named after the club.

One of the event’s co-chairs, Eve Dahl, said the cause has a personal connection to some members.

"There are people in our breed, in our family here, that have actually stayed there because their children have been treated and taken care of with long term illnesses, etc. So it meant a lot to people. I think people were quite moved," said Dahl.

The Ronald McDonald House of Rochester provided shelter to more than 450 families last year.
