Singing for Pi Day

Singing for Pi Day

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - Tuesday was 'Pi Day,’ but we're not talking about the kind of pie you eat. We're talking about the number.

How many digits of the never-ending number do you know? For a local fifth grade student, the answer is a matter of putting the number to music.

“I was walking down the stairs into the kitchen and a smell filled the air.
It was my mom baking an apple pie.
So I asked if she knew the digits of Pi.
And she replied, ‘3 -point- 1 4 1 5 9 2 6 5 3 5 8 9 7 9 3 2 3 8 4 6 2 6 4 3 3 8 3 2 7 9 5 oh…’
I went to the garage to see my dad.
He was working on the car.
So I asked if he knew the digits of Pi.
And he replied, ‘3 -point- 1 4 1 5 9 2 6 5 3 5 8 9 7 9 3 2 3 8 4 6 2 6 4 3 3 8 3 2 7 9 5 oh…’”

Northside Coulee Montessori fifth grade student Liberty Sprain came up with the song while memorizing Pi for class.

Liberty says her Pi Song has the first 40 digits of Pi and she wants to expand it in the future.
