Orientation held for new West Salem School District staff

Orientation for new West Salem educators

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) - As the summer winds down, new teachers are getting ready for the school year to start.

West Salem hosted a new employees' orientation event Tuesday.

New teachers, office staff and bus drivers go through the orientation to help give the new staff members a foundation ahead of the school year.

This is the second year the district has hosted a new staff orientation event.

While the staff has the skills to help students learn, the day is about helping everyone adapt to new surroundings.

"We want them to be comfortable in where ever they are throughout the district.  We also give a tour, so they're very knowledgeable about what this district has to offer and show the passion that everybody has for the district, so we want them to stay and be familiar with all the things that we offer," said Deanna Wiatt, West Salem School District Director of Curriculum.

The school year starts in West Salem on September 3rd.
