LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- With just over 36 hours until voters head to the polls, things are heating up in the Democratic primary race for Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District.

On Sunday, candidate Rebecca Cooke held a Get Out the Vote "Cooke Out" in Copeland Park.

Attendees gathered to listen to the candidate speak over hot dogs and hamburgers.

Cooke, an Eau Claire business owner, goes up against fellow Democrats Katrina Shankland and Eric Wilson in Tuesday's primary.

Cooke's campaign has heavily emphasized her working class background and status as a political outsider -- Cooke grew up on a dairy farm and works part-time as a waitress.

But opponents have increasingly called that image into question, citing Cooke's work as a finance director for Congressional campaigns across the country.

Cooke's event comes amid a multi-city Get Out the Vote tour undertaken by Shankland, who held a similar event in Riverside Park on Saturday.

The winner of Tuesday's race will take on Republican Derrick Van Orden in November's general election.
