Downtown Mainstreet to focus on La Crosse parking

They've been planning a parking benefit district with the city.

Funds collected from parking fees would go to snow removal, sidewalk repairs and other ways to fix up store exteriors.

The planning process may take years, but according to the Executive Director of Downtown Mainstreet, Terry Bauer, he's hopeful the organization and the city can find a solution together.

"We need to do what we can do in a positive way to bring a solution to the table that again works for everybody," said Bauer.

Bauer says he hopes the plan can be in place within two years.
