Western Tech opens new Student Success Center

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - A newly remodeled Student Success Center opened on Monday at Western Technical College in La Crosse.

Under a $5.7 million project, the Academic Resource Center was renovated into the Student Success Center.

A ribbon cutting Monday morning celebrated the official opening of the brand-new facility, which is home to Western's Welcome Center, Career and Counseling services, and many other student resources.

Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes was also at the event to speak with staff and tour the new facility.

Administrators say the new center is specifically designed to help fuel the success of Western Technical College students.

"This facility is all about getting you in and then helping you graduate," said Western's President, Roger Stanford. "There's access services if you have disability support, there's equity services, there's veteran services inside, and counseling services. We centralized it so that everybody can get what they need all in one space."

Western's Student Success Center also houses the Cavalier Cupboard, a pantry that meets the food, hygiene and school needs of Western's students.
