LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A member of the City of La Crosse Common Council announced Monday, he will run for a seat on the La Crosse School Board.
In an announcement via his Facebook page, Scott Neumeister announced his intent to run.
“Ok I can not [SIC] sit by and watch what is happening to our area schools,” Neumeister wrote. “I have now decided to Officially Run For The La Crosse School Board. I will FIGHT TO KEEP LOGAN HIIGH [SIC] SCHOOL. It’s for the Kids!!”
Neumeister is referring to controversy surrounding a referendum plan to consolidate La Crosse Logan and La Crosse Central High Schools. The referendum failed on the November 8 ballot. School district officials like Superintendent Aaron Engel have indicated that some sort of consolidation needs to happen to address budget deficits.
Neumeister currently represents La Crosse’s District 2 in common council. He is currently collecting signatures for his school board candidacy.
