Winona man facing assault charges in stabbing incident

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) - A Winona man is facing assault charges following a stabbing early Monday morning.

A 19-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in Winona on August 12.

According to a criminal complaint, Terrence Terry, 21, broke into a residence and attacked the victim. The victim said it was because "he thought I had money".

According to the Winona Police Department, a 911 call came in at 1:24 a.m. on August 12, reporting a stabbing at a home on the 400 block of West 9th Street.

The man was reportedly stabbed by Terry inside the home. Terry fled from the residence and was later located at a home on the 300 block of West 6th Street.

Terry told police he brought "coke" to the victim's home and planned on picking up marijuana from the him. Terry said, they did "line for line for line," and he thought the victim would repay him for half of the value of the 1.8 grams of cocaine that he brought. When Terry asked for the money, the victim said he never agreed to that arrangement. Terry got mad and "lost it", according to the complaint.

Terry put the victim in a headlock and began stabbing him. Terry told police he was "money hungry".

The victim was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment.

Terry is charged with one count of Assault in the First Degree and one county of Assault in the Second Degree.

Officers from the Goodview Police Department and the Winona County Sheriff's Department assisted the Winona Police Department and EMS personnel in the incident.
