Children's Miracle Network receives donation to send diabetic kids to special summer camp

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - The Children's Miracle Network is on the receiving end of a donation made Thursday morning.

The $5,000 donation made through the 'Toyota of La Crosse Cares' event will give local kids the chance to attend  a summer camp for children with diabetes.

One Children's Miracle Network representative says these kinds of specialty camps can have a huge impact on kids learning to live with diabetes.

"They are going to get the best care at this camp. They're going to be surrounded by peers who have Type 1 Diabetes. All the camp counselors have Type 1 Diabetes, and so it really means that these kids get to feel normal, they get to feel like they're just an everyday kid,” said CMN Hospitals Program Specialist Ashley Zibrowski.

The 'Toyota of La Crosse Cares' charity will donate to local efforts four times this year.
