Body recovered from Chippewa River in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) - Eau Claire Police confirm that a body was pulled from the Chippewa River Friday evening near the dam.

They aren't providing any other details.

Authorities have been searching for two people Williamefipanio G. Hessel, 17, and James Liedtka,

Hessel was cliff diving with friends in the Chippewa River in late April when he went under and never came up.

Rescue personnel searched the river and surrounding area, but were unable to locate the missing teen.

Liedtka has been missing since November.

The Eau Claire Police Department was notified on a Monday afternoon of Liedtka's disappearance. Police learned that Liedtka's vehicle had not moved since the night he went missing, he had not been to his residence all week or attended classes at UW-Stout where he is a student.

Police also checked Liedtka's telephone records and found his last activity was at 8:25 p.m. on November 4. Police say it could have been an incoming call or text message. The telephone is now inactive. The GPS coordinates provided by the telephone company led police to the 1100 block of Menomonie Street near the Chippewa River.

Eau Claire Police and Fire Departments searched the river and surrounding area with no luck.
