News 8 Now Highlight Zone: Prairie du Chien offense emerges in second half to beat Platteville

Prairie du Chien football used tough defense and a second half offensive push to beat Platteville 14-10 Friday night.

The hosts trailed 3-0 at halftime but were able to find offensive success in the second half.

Halfway through the third, Maddox Cejka made his only passing completion count, finding Jon Nicholson for a 62-yard touchdown to go up 7-3. The scoring drive had started on their own one-yard line.

Platteville went ahead early in the fourth after capping off a 12-play, 81-yard drive. But Prairie du Chien would answer at the 7:47 mark, courtesy of a Max Amundson 17-yard touchdown run.

Braydn Saint carried 29 times for 155 yards for the Blackhawks. Saint also recorded 13 tackles and four for loss on defense.

The Blackhawk defense limited Platteville to just four third-down conversions on 13 tries. Conversely, Prairie du Chien’s offense converted seven of 12 third downs.
