Sparta takes 6th in D2, GMC earns 7th

Holmen gymnastics took fifth place at the team state gymnastics competition Friday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.

The Vikings put up just over 139 points as a team. Top individual scores included Harley Bartels recording a 9.517 on beam and a 9.283 on floor. Kamryn McNally added a 9.217 on vault.

In Division 2, Sparta edged GMC by a point to take sixth at state. Sparta, making its first team trip to state in program history, was paced by sophomore Lily Wiegand, who landed a team-high 9.5 vault.

The individual competition begins Saturday morning.
