Newly retired doctor gets big surprise from coworkers

Retirement Parade

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Dr. Ken Horth enjoyed his first official day of retirement with a surprise parade thrown by his coworkers.

They gave Doctor Horth a bundle of balloons, and even put up a sign congratulating him on his retirement.

Each person drove by in a decorated car, taking photos and wishing him well.

Doctor Horth said, “I feel that we’re really a family. We look out for each other, and it’s such a wonderful environment to work in. That’s why it’s difficult to actually, you know, retire, because I’ll miss them so much.”

Doctor Horth retired after 41 years as a physician and has spent the last 16 years at Gundersen Health System.
