New sculpture installed on Viterbo’s campus

Viterbo University is sculpting its campus with a new piece of art.

A sculpture called “Symphonic Joy” was installed Thursday at the university. The piece was created out of stained glass by local artist Elmer Peterson. It took about 5 months to construct the sculpture. You can find it near the Fine Arts Center on the south-side of campus.

The fine arts director says he hopes it will become a staple for the campus.

“We’re happy to be able to place it here for our fine arts patrons, for the rest of the campus, and for the folks who visit our campus,” said Micheal Ranscht.

The sculpture was commissioned by the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.
