New program working to put an end to domestic and sexual violence
La Crosse, Wis. (WKBT)- A program called “Level Up” is working in the La Crosse area to put an end to domestic and sexual violence by engaging young people.
The group works with our local schools by bringing in guest speakers, teaching students how to react when they see something that’s inappropriate through Bystander intervention.
“A lot of people will walk into a situation and see something happening that they know is wrong and they want to intervene but they don’t know how to do it and in a lot of cases they fear for their own safety if they do it. So this is to help show them techniques that they can use to diffuse the situation,” says Tom Berkedal, executive director of Level Up.
The group is also getting involved with colleges and universities in and around the La Crosse area.
