New officer at Fort McCoy wants to build on accomplishments of predecessor

A Change of Responsibility Ceremony was held at Ft. McCoy Sunday for the 88 th Readiness Division’s incoming senior non-commissioned officer.

Command Sergeant Major Ronnie Farmer took over the role from Command Sgt. Maj. Jeff McGlin, who has been filling the position since his predecessor had to leave for health reason 14 months ago.

McGlin says both he and Farmer especially enjoy one-on-one time working with soldiers.

“I reflect back now on all of the soldiers that I have mentored and helped and trained. It numbers into the thousands,” said McGlin.

McGlin said Farmer is a “high speed C.S.M.,” and has one piece of advice as Farmer takes over: to keep doing what he does.

Farmer is originally from Savannah, Georgia. He looks forward to building the organization with his soldiers, with an emphasis getting “back to basics”.

“One leader has brought some change, and it’s like building a fight position. The next one comes in to make it better based on what the last one has brought to that fight,” said Farmer.
