New nonprofit consignment shop raising funds for local immigrants
Shop is in the former Downtown Mainstreet offices at 500 Main St.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A new La Crosse resale shop is opening with a mission in mind.
The Nikinana Resale Consignment Shop in the former Downtown Mainstreet offices at 500 Main St. raises money for local immigrants having trouble paying legal fees.
“What we try to do is look into those kind of people who came here genuinely. And they are working what we know to be under the table. And then they are being short-changed. They are being mistreated by whoever that is working with them. We’re one of these like fish them out, those good ones. And see if we can pay their attorneys’ fees, so they can settle here in this country,” Nikinana’s Dim Sunni Aaronswuche.
The store does not support undocumented immigrants.
