New Horizons offers training for legal professionals to fight against abuse
New Horizons leaders want to strengthen safety net in legal system for survivors of abuse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Legal professionals have an opportunity to learn how they can build a safety net for survivors of abuse. Experts in La Crosse say nearly all victims of domestic abuse also have experienced financial abuse.
Three out of four survivors, financial security was their primary reason for staying in the abusive relationship. Survivors of abuse also have trouble navigating the legal system when seeking justice and protection.
Sessions will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Oct. 7 and 21 and Nov. 4 at the New Horizons La Crosse Outreach Center. Sessions are limited to 10 spots and it is required that all attendees register prior to the date they will be attending.
