New historical museum set to open downtown
The historical society owns thousands of artifacts and the new museum is a way to present some of the unseen history of the region
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – La Crosse’s history will soon be on display for the public thanks to a new museum.
The La Crosse County Historical Society is excited to announce the la Crosse Area Heritage Center will open next month.
The museum at 506 Main Street focuses on art and artifacts that are from the local area.
The historical society owns thousands of artifacts and the new museum is a way to present some of the unseen history of the region.
“The Board of Directors took the leap of saying, ‘We are going to pay rent, we are going to invest in a museum for the community that reflects the whole community and the history of this area that people can be proud of’,” said Peggy Derrick, the Executive Director of the La Crosse County Historical Society.
The museum will be open to the public on November 17th and will open the week before for those members of the Historical Society.
It’s free to get in for members, otherwise, it’s $5 for adults, $4 for kids.
Any child four years and younger can get in for free.
