New flight from La Crosse to Detroit will take off in March
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — There is a new flight option set to take off in La Crosse.
A daily flight from La Crosse Regional Airport to Detroit Michigan will begin March 2nd.
Detroit is one of Delta Airlines hubs.
After nearly a year in planning, the Airport director says securing the new flight means chances to grow for La Crosse.
“Detroit was an opportunity that we knew had been successful in La Crosse in the past. It’s a relatively close market, which definitely makes a difference in terms of airline cost,” said La Crosse Regional Airport Director Clinton Torp.
The new flight is possible because of a $750,000 U.S. Department of Transportation grant secured by the Airport in July.
UW-La Crosse’s chancellor Joe Gow says the new option will help the university to grow.
“Well there’s several hundred international students and I would say probably about 50 international faculty, we’re always looking to grow those numbers and so this certainly will help with that,” said Joe Gow, UW-La Crosse Chancellor.
The new flight addition joins scheduled flights to Minneapolis and Chicago.
