New features at 2015 La Crosse Loggers games

The La Crosse Loggers are preparing for their home opener on Thursday  at 7:05 p.m. against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

We talked to Loggers General Manager Chris Goodell about what’s new at Copeland Park this season.

“This is the place to be in summertime in La Crosse,” Goodell said. “It’s become a summertime tradition, we’re happy to say and that’s because our fans have made it that way.”

There are three new areas for fans to enjoy:

Fun zone on the right field side. “That will actually be a double batting cage when the games are not going on and then a fun zone during the games,” Goodell said. “Inflatables for kids, Plinko games, interactive games for the whole family.”
Rod’s Ride On Power Sports dugout club on the third base side – an elevated deck with four top table seating.
New beverage garden at main entrance

Former Milwaukee Brewers great Gorman Thomas will be the Loggers Opening Day guest. He will throw out the first pitch. He will also be the featured guest speaker at the Loggers “Celebration of Baseball” luncheon at the Dublin Square Sports Deck at Copeland Park on Thursday. A ballpark style lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. on May 28. An introduction of the 2015 Loggers will follow at Noon.

“It’s going to be a new tradition. We’re going to have a special guest in every year on Opening Night,” Goodell said.

A $10 ticket package gets fans entry to the “Celebration of Baseball” luncheon and the Loggers home opener. For tickets, go to the Loggers ticket office, 1225 Caledonia Street in La Crosse, or call (608) 796-9553.

“It’s gonna be a fantastic atmosphere,” Goodell said. “We’ve had a tremendous off season in terms of support from the community, in terms of both sponsorship support and fans support. This is a very special place down here, it always has been. It just keeps getting more special every year.”

The Loggers won their season opener 4-1 in Green Bay Tuesday night.
