New drive in medical building in La Crosse busy during first week
The new Gundersen Health System is on La Crosse's north side
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A little more than a week after it opened, a drive-thru lab and COVID-19 testing site is staying busy.
The Gundersen Health System site opened last Wednesday on La Crosse’s north side.
The site replaces tents and provides a climate controlled space for patients.
And about 250 patients are visiting the site daily, but as many as 300 have been at the site in a single day.
While staff at the site are still streamlining tasks at the site, they are happy with how they are able to help the community.
“For the most part, our garage doors and work flows and our inside process are pretty good,” said Gundersen Health System clinical manager Cheryl Peters.
No appointments are taken for the site with Gundersen referring patients to the site as needed.
