New details in crash that killed Holmen High School grads

HOLMEN, Wis. — Investigators say two Holmen High School graduates killed in a rollover crash both had blood alcohol levels more than double the legal limit to drive.

Sam Haug and Ethan Anderson, both 21, were found dead at the crash scene off of County Road XX, just south of Briggs Road.

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department says their vehicle was found about 6:00 a.m. Thursday, but the crash could have happened hours earlier.

Anderson, who was driving, had a blood alcohol level of .207, while Haug’s blood alcohol level was .198, according to preliminary reports given to the sheriff’s department.

The legal limit to drive in Wisconsin is .08.
