New community center opens in Arcadia

ARCADIA, Wis. (WKBT) A new facility is bringing a local community closer together.

The Arcadia School District and surrounding communities are celebrating the grand opening of the Wanek Center.

The center is multi-functional and will be used for community recreation and events. It has a gym and indoor track, an arena, a public library, and more.

The Arcadia School District will also be using it for athletics and office space.

During the grand opening, people got a chance to tour the building and take part in some fun activities, including family yoga, a hoops contest, and a raffle.

Some student-athletes even got to try out the new basketball court during JV and Varsity boy’s basketball games.

Those involved in the project say it’s a big win for the area.

“This facility will be really used. The community here is really into sports, and the kids have really been active, and this will give them a great new facility in which they can practice and have their games,” said Ron Wanek, Founder/Chairman of Ashley Furniture Industries.

Plans to build the Wanek Center started in 2015.
